The fan painting art is a style of creation which reflects the literati's artistic taste most. The section presented over 70 works with detailed introductions according to their painting styles, hoping to provide collectors with a clear map of the two adjacent lots for more comparison and artistic inspiration from them.

Before the auction, the lots of the section were displayed at the exhibition of 'The Bright Moon in the Hand: The Humble Administrator's Garden and the Golden-Painted Fan Painting Art of Ming Dynasty' in Suzhou.

Literati's Poems and Paintings

The Poetry and Paintings of Literary Masters contributed RMB 38.455 million and 90% sell-through rate with star lots all sold for high prices.

The section was aimed at breaking the shackles in people's mind that the calligraphic works are always appreciated in a calligraphic way but much more thoroughly, by paying more attention to the identity of the artist as a writer and appraising a work more stereoscopically and literarily.

The inkstone, which came from Song dynasty, has a regular shape with great elegance. On its back there is the inscription left by Emperor Qianlong, which is very rare. Sale Price: RMB 1,104,000

The cover lot of the Chinese Buddhist Art section, a Buddhist Sutra Pillar made in 1184, previously collected by Duan Fang and documented by Wu Shifen as being in Zhangxianggong Temple of Beiping, was sold for RMB 1.104 million. This piece has been meticulously preserved and studied by prominent experts in the field of gold and stone inscriptions, as well as various major institutions dedicated to the research of Buddhist inscriptions and relics.

The Ancient Jades and Jewelry section incorporated both jade and jadeite pieces, offering a captivating display that juxtaposed fine stones and jades from both ancient and modern times, creating a harmonious blend of past and present. The auction, which commenced on the 30th, spanned six hours and concluded with a total transaction amount exceeding RMB 59 million, achieving a transaction rate of 83%.

The Ancient Jade section ranges from ancient times to exquisite Ming and Qing dynasty jade craftsmanship. One notable piece, a Russet Jade Ornament Mounted on a Silver Wire Stand, was sold for RMB 1.38 million. This jade axe was unearthed in the 49th year of the Qianlong reign (1784) in the ancient city of Guzhen, inscribed by Wu Keyuan, with a clear provenance. In the Contemporary Jade Carving segment, the White Jade 'Elephant' Ornament by Huang Yanghong, a master of the Shanghai school of jade carving and winner of the Tian Gong Gold Award, was released at RMB 3.22 million, exceeding expectations. This piece, with excellent luster and natural golden-red skin, is a rare example that beautifully displays both craftsmanship and material beauty.

Their understated luxury and vibrant fire were highly favored by collectors.

The categories of gold and silver ingots, minted coins, historical currency, and ancient coins saw steady sales, with special focus on Republic of China period Central Mint gold bars and regional gold ingots, which attracted dramatic attention from collectors, resulting in active bidding.

A highlight of the section, a pair of gold bars with the portrait of Sun Yat-sen made by the Central Mint during the Republic of China period, featuring the five-tael and ten-tael bars, became the focus of the auction due to its unique historical significance and perfect condition.
